Answered from the manual for the 2020 Honda CR-V.
B12 does not require a dealer if you are equipped to perform the work and inspections properly. It means:
- B: Replace engine oil and oil filter; inspect the front and rear brakes; inspect tie-rod ends, steering gearbox and boots, suspension components, driveshaft boots, brake hoses/lines including ABS/VSA, all fluid levels and fluid condition, exhaust system, and fuel lines/connections.
- 1: Rotate tires.
- 2: Replace the engine air-cleaner element and cabin dust/pollen filter, and inspect the drive belt.
So the filters, oil/filter change, and tire rotation are typical DIY jobs. The B-code brake/chassis/fluid/exhaust inspections are also part of the service, so use a shop if you cannot safely inspect those items. Honda also says to adjust valves during B, 1, or 2 service if they are noisy.
Reset after completing the work:
- Switch the ignition to ON (do not start). On push-button models, use the ENGINE START/STOP button to select ON.
- Press the display/information button until the Maintenance Minder screen appears.
- Press ENTER.
- Hold ENTER for about 10 seconds.
- Use the arrow controls to choose the individual completed item(s), or All Due Items.
- Press ENTER to reset; repeat for any other item needed.
Honda specifically says to reset the display when maintenance is performed; otherwise the displayed intervals will be incorrect.
